The first GSM/GPS/VHF collar is fitted on to a young male spotted hyena for research, with a further 6 hyenas being collared between July and October. Axel H uses the long-term camera trap data to study “Ecology and abundance of the spotted hyena population on protected and unprotected land”, providing important population data for the conservation authority in charge of hunting permits in the area. ** JG to edit.**
